Mending in Richmond Park outside London, UK.
My husband and I are nomadic 6 months a year, so I take my art all over the world!
I am a nomadic fiber artist incorporating insights from my travels on how my ancestors created art and made it last. Born and raised in Santa Cruz, California, and now based in Los Gatos, CA, I spend six months a year on the road with my husband Steve, visiting museums and traditional craft demonstrations.
Incorporating my own love of color and penchant for re-used materials and vintage sewing tools, I scour thrift stores and “free” piles for textile items that just need a little repair.
But for me, repair is more than a way to bring an item back to life.
It's a chance to create a brand new work of art. Connecting with my own spirit-driven inspiration (why do I need to go to this thrift store on this day...?) I view my work as a collaboration the original creators, adding a second layer, a graduate degree, if you will, to level up artistry, durability, and usefulness.
My work has been featured in the Southwest Fiber Alliance Spring 2025 show in Durango, CO. I have sold at markets in North Carolina, Oregon, and Colorado. My work is worn from London, UK to Milan, Italy.
A professional writer and editor, I am also available for editing books, reviews, and articles in art and fiber-related fields (find me on LinkedIn).
My latest art projects can be found on Instagram on YouTube @robinfpoolfiberart.
